Quartzsite Police Chief Jeff Gilbert announced Tuesday
that the Quartzsite Police are still investigating the death
of Laura Vittori, the local woman found slain in a field
behind the Exxon station at Exit 19 in Quartzsite.
"The FBI," Gilbert stated, "is still involved in this
case and we are working on it. We do not believe there is a
danger to the public," Gilbert concluded.
The local food bank is back up and running with
special efforts to establish new and dependable sources
of food to accommodate the needs of Quartzsite's senior
residents and those in need.

Your
local police department is working to make
Quartzsite a better place. Take the time to note
officers' names and be respectful of their needs in any
emergency situation: they're there to protect you.
Quartzsite's Local Police Department is located at 465
North Plymouth Avenue in Quartzsite, with a mailing
address of Post Office Box 2812. Telephone: 928-927-4644
Fax: 938-937-4400
Quartzsite is technically a 'small town' despite the
masses of tourists that find it a wonderful alternative
to wintry weather in the north. It isn't geared for high
maintenance camera systems and 'pay by mail' ticketing
agents: it relies on a common sensical approach to
driving locally:
1. Watch for animals, bicycles, ATVs, pedestrians and
confused drivers. We cater to seniors, retirees and
outdoor enthusiasts of all ages. There are virtually all
modes of transportation operating on our streets at this
time of year. Drive slowly when approaching others. They
are likely new to the area.
2. Traffic congestion in Quartzsite is commonplace.
Attempting to get anywhere quickly is not an option.
Slow down and take your time, enjoy the opportunity to
look around while sitting in traffic.
3. The Quartzsite Postal Service is inundated.
Being short with postal workers will not alleviate the
problem: take something to read or work on when standing
in line. The Chamber of Commerce is working on
getting a seasonal postal service operational in
Quartzsite: in the meantime, be supportive of the staff
working to handle too much seasonal mail with too few
workers.
